Virat Kohli's tactical brilliance leaves Shane Watson in awe - "Virat is extremely open to our thoughts and opinions on certain things" Says Shane Watson

Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Shane Watson thanked skipper Virat Kohli for using his bowling skills well in the ongoing ninth edition of the Indian Premier League.

Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Shane Watson has hit a purple patch after joining the franchise this year. The former Australia star produced a brilliant spell of medium-pace bowling last night to help his team register a thrilling one-run victory over Kings XI Punjab. (Full IPL Coverage/Points Table)

Kings XI needed 24 runs off the last two overs and Watson bowled the penultimate over giving away just seven runs to swing the match in RCB's favor. He finished with figures of 2 for 22 off his full quota of four overs and was adjudged Man of the Match for a sterling performance that kept his team's chances alive in the IPL.
Experience paying off for RCB
The 34-year-old, who joined RCB this season, lauded his skipper Virat Kohli after the match and said that the combined experience of Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle has had a terrific impact on his performance on the field.
"To have AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle as starting point as well, with all their experience and knowledge on the game of cricket is helpful. Virat gets the best out of everything that we have got.
"So I think we are very privileged here at RCB to have so much of quality experience and knowledge on the game of cricket. So (we'll) just try and continue to get the best of ourselves," Watson told iplt20.com after a gripping contest played at the PCA stadium in Mohali.
'Kohli open to different ideas'
Praising his skipper, Watson said that Kohli as a leader, is brilliant with his tactics on the field, "Virat is extremely open to our thoughts and opinions on certain things. He has always got some thoughts and tactically he is very good as well. Virat has been using me in one over spells early on in the innings and then more towards the back end depending on where it suits the team the most. I am happy to bowl anywhere Virat (needs me)."
"He instills lot of confidence in me, he lets me sort of choose the balls and allows me to set my fields accordingly as well - with his input a lot of the time as well. It's been great to work under him and he's using me very nicely. So I'm having a lot of fun doing it," he added. (Shane Watson stars as Bangalore beat Punjab by 1 run)
Humble Watson
The 19th over bowled by Watson actually helped Chris Jordan defend 17 runs off the last over. But as one of the senior pros in the side, Watson chose to give credit to the other bowlers.
"I think just about every over is very crucial. The way the games pan out if you are able to hold momentum or to get a bit of momentum go your way at any stage - whether it is batting innings or the bowling
innings - every over really counts.
"So I don't see that (19th) over being any more important than the others that I have bowled throughout the time."
